Winterbraun Ale

Lost Coast Brewery & Cafe
Eureka, CA (USA)
6.5 ABV

C. Moderately clear, a hint of cloudiness

H. Dark amber to light brown

N. Like the morning after a keg party at your house, not so nice

Dos: Well, the taste is kinda better than the smell, cause the smell is gnarly. It does lose taste pretty much immediately though which is so lame. The label talks about chocolate tastes and chocolates malts, but yeahhhh no chocolate whatsoever. I do like chocolate. Young ladies tend to buy me those big gigantic hearts that are filled with chocolates, but I always seem pretty drunk after I eat them all. Come to find out, they have been injecting them with alcohol so I’d be more vulnerable. Anyway, this is an average winter beer, and not really as cool as the snowboard on the label would make it seem. Score = 3.39

Fermentation: So after reading the bottle (yah I know I typically don’t do that) it says that there are chocolate malts in the beer, and that it has a chocolate taste….Well the only thing chocolate about this beer is the “Chocolate-Face” (from the movie Borat) on the label. Overall it’s a decent beer. Easy drinking but nothing special. I wouldn’t flip out if you didn’t get a chance to try this one. I’m sorta happy it’s only seasonal. Score =3.13

Overall = 3.26
