Magic Hat; Odd Notion Spring 2010

Magic Hat Brewing Company
South Burlington, VT
6.00 ABV

C. Cloudy

H. Dark Yellow

N. Sweet Notes; not from hops or malt, nose mainly from the yeast. Hints of lemon and anti-bacterial soap….very fresh

Cerveza Chica; You can definitely tell that this beer is unfiltered. The attack on the tongue is quite strong especially from the carbonation. This beer is very drinkable and enjoyable to me. The smell hits me coming from all the yeast. This beer seriously reminds me of UFO. In my opinion, they are very similar to me and not in a bad way. It is a shame they change the recipes for the odd notion beer each season so we will not be able to have this again.
Score; 3.77

Ferm; Alright, I was very excited about trying this beer, mainly because Magic Hat does change the recipe every year and every season. This year for spring we are blessed with an un-filtered ale. It is very interesting beer. Unlike most unfiltered offerings from other breweries I feel that this beer is a bit more complicated. It dances on your tongue and has a hint of sour notes right off the bat. Who would figure that this beer settles down nicely on the palette unlike that sour little brat in the movie theatre that makes noise throughout the entire movie. I will always recommend picking up the seasonal sampler from Magic Hat just to try the Odd Notions, but this Spring offering even more so! Enjoy this one while it is available!
Score; 3.89

Overall; 3.83
