Beer Drinker; Another beer we sampled on Saturday was Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest. (BTW, if you all weren't paying attention, the Flyers took a 3-1 series lead against the Canadiens that day, too.) I don't remember smelling it as I only had one ounce to work with, but the flavors were certainly distinct. Very bitter with plenty of lemon and orange peel. Wow what a hoppy, fruity, citrus burst! This beer was very refreshing, palate cleansing, and I'm pretty sure that Ferm has a surprise to demonstrate a word we both agreed on for this beer: puckering! My grade: OU812. Very cheesy, but that's just to say it rocks.
Score; 4.2981

The Ferm; Step one, find a lemon and some hops. Step two, cut the lemon. Step three, place the hops on the lemon. Step four, eat the lemon. That should help you figure out how this beer tasted. It was straight up citrusy sour with a solid hop backing, while still having a very drinkable quality to it. I was honestly shocked at how this beer turned out. I don't think I could kill a bomber of this on my own, but to share with a friend on a hop summer day this would be pretty damn good. I did get some pepper out of it around the end of the tasting, maybe that had to do with the mint that I got in the nose. Overall a pretty good beer. Ohh and by the way that picture above...yep it was pretty funny when we go to take it and Beer Drinker is licking his lips before...lol. Pucker Up!
Score; 3.81

At least this time I had a buffer from the lip licker...lol (guest appearance by Mrs. Bon Beer)
BTW both pictures I am holding back just flat out cracking up
ReplyDeleteThat second picture??? When did Mrs. Bon Beer get in there? You can see my eyes are closed so I didn't even know she did that! So funny.
ReplyDeleteTake two....when we were leaning down
ReplyDeleteMy opinion of this beer is that it was probably a hell of a lot more fun to make than it is to drink.
ReplyDeleteAgreed SirRon, drinkable beer but not something I would go out of my way for....
ReplyDeleteI didn't get any puckeryness to it! All hops in the front, with a hint of citrus at the end and a minor lingering bitterness on the palate...of course, I get this on draught ;-)
