Green Flash - Imperial IPA

Green Flash Imperial IPA

San Diego County, CA
9.40% ABV

C. Clear
H. Dark Yellow
N. Nose is big on earthy piney citrusy odors

Cerveza Chica; I must start by saying that I am a pretty big fan on IPAs and since we followed un*earthly with this one I thought it could only get better. I had a faint idea from the smell of this beer though that I would not be a big fan. The smell of hops was pretty potent and that was definitely the case upon drinking it. It was way too bitter in my opinion. It seemed as if there was no balance to it at all. I have heard great things about this beer and was looking forward to trying it, but now that I have I can say I am good. You could definitely taste the alcohol in it, and I just would have really liked more of a balance to this beer. There are better Imperial IPAs in my book.
Score:2.07

The Ferm; This is my type of IPA, light on malt HUGE on hops. Perfect balance of citrus hops and light malt. That’s really about it on this Imperial IPA out of Cali. I have heard great things about this beer and unlike many other beers this is NOT Beer-Hype. Amazing beer, light body, full of flavor, and at 9.4% I could easily have a few, and feel grrreeaaaatttt! I’m in love. I look forward to getting my hands on some more Green Flash Beers!
